About Lois Stipp
Lois is a retired registered nurse and art educator who has spent her career supporting others through creativity, care, and community involvement. A sixth-generation member of a Beaver Island family, Lois has deep roots on the island and a strong appreciation for its history and people. She has continued to teach art for more than 20 years, encouraging students to explore their abilities in a supportive, student-centered environment.
For over 15 years, Lois has operated the Beaver Island Gallery, offering a welcoming space for local artists to share their work and provides art education. She has also helped sustain island art by managing the Museum Week Art Show for more than 35 years. Before returning full time to Beaver Island, Lois served as President of the Diamond Valley Arts Council in Southern California for 15 years.
Lois is grateful to contribute to the life of Beaver Island and volunteers through several local nonprofits. She strives to work quietly behind the scenes to support the island’s cultural, educational, and community wellbeing. Lois serves as our President.
All net proceeds from this raffle will go to support operation of children and family activities at the Beaver Island Community Center. Only 600 tickets will be sold. Drawing will be held at 7:30 p.m. on October 10, 2026, at the Harvest on the Harbour Festival on Beaver Island. The list price of the prize is about $700. Winner must be at least 18 years old on the drawing date. Winner is responsible for registration (if any), insurance and taxes, and must sign a liability release prior to delivery. Employees of the BIC Center and the board and officers of Beaver Island Community Center are not eligible to win. Tickets are available for sale only to persons located in Michigan with delivery to a Michigan address (or pickup at the BIC Center). Full contest rules are available at the BIC Center or here.
