About the Beaver Island Jazz Series
The Beaver Island Jazz Series is a joint project of the Beaver Island Performing Arts Alliance, the Beaver Island Community Center and WVBI. After a successful first run in 2022 the Jazz Series is back for a fifth season with three performances over the course of the summer.
About the Beaver Island Performing Arts Alliance
Each summer from the last weekend of July through the first weekend of August, the Baroque on Beaver Festival presents world-class orchestral, chamber, and vocal performances on the most remote inhabited island of the Great Lakes. In 2026, the festival celebrates 25 years of bringing classical music to Beaver Island. Baroque on Beaver is the signature event of the Beaver Island Performing Arts Alliance (BIPAA).
About WVBI
WVBI features jazz in its cottage mix and delivers non-stop jazz every evening in the Jazz Night Watch. The station is proud to feature artists who have preformed at the BIC Center and elsewhere on the island in its music rotation. WVBI works closely with BIPAA to promote Baroque on Beaver as well as with other music oriented events on the island including the Beaver Island Music Festival. The station also works to promote Michigan musicians and songwriters with its programs Songs from the Trail (which has been featured on the Michigan Radio’s Stateside) and Michigan Music this Week. The Jazz Night Watch airs starting at 10:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and starting at 1:00 a.m. Fridays through Sundays. It runs through 6:00 a.m. every morning. Listen at 91.9 FM and worldwide at wvbi.net or on any smart device with the wake word and “Play WVBI.”
About the BIC Center
The Beaver Island Community Center serves as the social heart of the community. Its 140-seat theater is the venue for a summer concert series, community concerts and theater, professional meetings, lectures, art sales and more. Upstairs there are games, a pool table, PCs and printers, and a comfy corner to read a book or watch a movie on the occasional rainy day. The lobby has a concession stand, information racks stocked with brochures about island activities and benches and tables that are ideal for laying out plans for the day or grabbing a quick snack. The BIC Center serves as the trailhead for the island’s Birding Trail, Water Trail and History Trail, and it hosts WVBI-FM, the island’s radio station. Both the BIC Center and WVBI are operated by The Preservation Association of Beaver Island, a privately funded 501(c)(3) organization that does not receive tax support. Learn more about the BIC Center and find a calendar of island events at biccenter.org.
