Description
The workshop will be held on the harbor and led by veteran rower and boat builder, Patrick Clark, of the Pittsburgh Irish Rowing Club. The workshop is intended to build the skills of the Beaver island Irish Currach Club and is open to anyone who is interested in learning about currachs or rowing. The total time commitment is seven hours over 3 days; a couple of hours on Friday evening, three hours on Saturday and three hours on Sunday afternoon. Patrick Clark will be assisted by current Beaver Island Currach Club members. This workshop is sponsored by the Beaver Island Irish Heritage Group.
Participants will explore the history and cultural heritage of currachs while building practical rowing skills through on-water instruction, endurance training, safety education, and team exercises. The weekend concludes with a fun mini-regatta and closing celebration.
Registration Information: Registration for non-members of the 2026 Currach Club is $25. If you decide to become a Currach Club member after this workshop for the 2026 season, that will be deducted from the total membership dues of $75 for the year.
Current Currach Club members (having already paid your dues for the 2026 season) registration is free. If you haven’t paid your regular 2026 dues, you can do so here. Youth ages 15-17 are also free.
